The American Commission for Accreditation of Reflexology Education and Training (ACARET) is an independent, non-profit, IRS tax exempt, legally constituted entity. ACARET has incorporated under California Law and has no affiliation with any branch of government. ACARET exists to accredit the competency of practicing reflexology instructors, and schools by measure of their ability to meet professional standards. ACARET is not affiliated with any school or educational program. It does not accredit individual reflexology practitioners in the field of reflexology.The ACARET Board consists of seven board members from various states across the nation with training and diverse backgrounds and knowledge in reflexology and related health fields. Yearly expenses met through accreditation fees and donations.

Scope of Practice
Reflexology is a manual (1) technique on specific reflex points (2) on specific zones (3) within main microcosms (4) on the body (i.e. feet, hands, and ears). This brings about psychological and physiological normalization of the total body.

- Direct use of finger and hand, no tools.
- 2. Reflex Points
- Areas of the microcosm that reflect the organization of the body.
- 3. Zones
- Three-dimensional, vertical division of the body from the top of the head to the distal aspect of the digits.

- Discrete areas that reflect the organization of the total body.
